Introduction
This Cookie Policy describes the local browser storage used by Casino Royal Toronto and explains the optional technology controls provided with the site. It applies to the HTML, CSS and JavaScript pages at casinoroyaltoronto.com. The delivered package is a static website: it does not require a server-side application, does not install analytics or marketing scripts, and does not create HTTP cookies through its own JavaScript. Two localStorage keys support the age gate and preference manager.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text values that websites or service providers can ask a browser to store and return with relevant requests. They may support essential functions, remember choices, measure use or enable advertising. Their duration and accessibility depend on how they are configured and on browser behaviour. Cookies are different from localStorage, which is a separate browser storage mechanism that JavaScript can use for simple persistent state.
How Cookies Work
A first-party site can set a cookie through a server response or, in some cases, through browser JavaScript. Third parties may set cookies when their scripts, embeds or pages are loaded, subject to browser and legal restrictions. Some cookies expire after a session, while others remain for a specified period. Users can usually inspect and remove cookies through their browser's privacy or storage controls. On this website, the initial page does not load a Google Maps iframe or a third-party measurement tool.
Essential Cookies
Essential technologies are those required for the experience or choices that a visitor explicitly requests. On this site, essential state is stored using localStorage rather than cookies. The age verification value records whether an adult confirmation has been made. The preference value records whether optional technologies are accepted, rejected or individually selected. These simple values do not contain form enquiries, email addresses or visitor profiles. Because the adult gate is central to access control, it is not presented as an optional marketing feature.
Functional Cookies
Functional technologies can be used to remember non-essential interface choices or provide additional services. The cookie manager includes a Functional Cookies category so visitors can express a preference if such features are introduced later. The current distributed code does not install a functional tracking cookie or activate an outside service merely because this category is selected. Google Maps remains a separate, explicit user action.
Analytics Cookies
Analytics technologies can help a publisher understand aggregate visits, navigation patterns and technical performance. They can also involve device identifiers or other information depending on their configuration. No analytics library, pixel or measurement request is included in the current site package. The Analytics Cookies toggle therefore records a category preference only; it does not enable hidden tracking.
Marketing Cookies
Marketing cookies may be used by advertising networks to recognise visits, assess campaigns or personalise advertising across websites. These technologies are optional in many contexts and can create significant privacy considerations. The delivered Casino Royal Toronto website includes no marketing pixels, remarketing tags or advertising network scripts. Selecting Marketing Cookies in the manager saves a preference but does not connect the browser to an advertising service.
First-Party Cookies
A first-party cookie is set for the domain that the visitor is accessing, subject to modern browser rules. It may be used for login sessions, preferences or other website features. The site code does not call document.cookie, and no first-party HTTP cookies are created by the packaged JavaScript. The two essential settings described in this policy are localStorage entries instead.
Third-Party Cookies
Third-party services can set cookies or use comparable storage when their content is loaded. This website permits visitors to open Google Maps for destination city information. The embedded map is not loaded during the initial page view; it is activated when a visitor clicks Load Map. Google's services may then use their own technologies in accordance with their policies and the visitor's browser settings. Other independent websites reached through links may also set cookies.
Local Storage
LocalStorage is browser-based storage that can preserve small values after a page closes. The present site uses crt_age_19 with the value confirmed after an adult verifies that they are 19 or older. It also uses crt_cookie_preferences to save a small JSON object containing true or false values for essential, analytics, functional and marketing categories. No name, telephone number, message or email address is written to either key.
| Key or service | Type | Purpose | Duration / action |
|---|---|---|---|
crt_age_19 |
localStorage | Remember adult confirmation | Until browser data is cleared |
crt_cookie_preferences |
localStorage | Remember essential and optional preferences | Until browser data is cleared or choice is changed |
| Site-created HTTP cookies | Cookie | None in supplied JavaScript | Not set |
| Google Maps | External service | Optional destination map after clicking Load Map | Google's own policy applies after activation |
Consent
When a visitor first opens the site, the age confirmation is presented before the cookie banner. After an adult confirms eligibility, the banner gives three options: Accept All, Reject Optional and Customise. Accept All records positive preferences for optional categories; Reject Optional stores only the essential setting; and Customise allows individual categories to be chosen. The preference does not itself cause an optional script to load, because such scripts have not been installed.
Managing Preferences
The footer includes a Cookie Preferences button on every page, and the Cookie Policy page also provides a Manage Cookie Preferences action. Both open the same settings panel. Essential storage remains active because it supports age confirmation and remembers the choice itself. Optional categories can be switched on or off and saved without reloading the page. A change to settings does not erase third-party cookies that might already exist from independent websites. Browser controls may be required for that.
Cookie Duration
The packaged website does not assign expiry dates to HTTP cookies because it does not create those cookies. LocalStorage generally remains until it is removed by the visitor, browser privacy features or other browser data-management processes. It is not identical to a short-lived session cookie. The age confirmation and optional preference values therefore have no fixed expiry set in the application. On shared devices, visitors may want to clear website data after use.
Browser Settings
Most browsers allow users to view stored website information, block some categories of cookies and remove stored data. The specific names of these controls vary among browsers and operating systems. Private browsing modes may limit how long localStorage is retained, and browser security settings may prevent some features from working normally. Because the site is designed to open directly from index.php, file-protocol storage can also behave differently from a hosted website.
Disabling Cookies
Disabling cookies does not by itself prevent the static pages from displaying their ordinary text, navigation and CSS layout. Some privacy settings may also block localStorage, which means that the age gate or preference selection might not persist between visits. If an external map is blocked, visitors can still use a standard directions link in a separate browser tab where permitted. We do not require analytics or marketing cookies to read the site.
Policy Updates
Technology inventories must reflect what actually runs in the visitor's browser. If the publisher later installs analytics, advertising, chat widgets, reservation services or other integrations, this policy and its table should be reviewed before publication. Changes may require new consent controls, further technical restrictions or additional descriptions of processing and retention. The present policy describes the distributed static files and the intentionally user-initiated external map feature.
